Betty worked for Jackson Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant in the Exceptional Education Department from 1974-1990. She worked closely with the personnel of the various schools. She served as a liaison between the community agencies to provide services to students with special needs.

She joined the staff of Blackmon and Blackmon, PLLC in 1991. Betty served as an assistant to the attorneys and worked particularly on the case of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

From 1995-2003, Betty was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Jackson State University in the Speech & Dramatic Art Department. She also attended Jackson State University while working.

2003-present employed by Blackmon and Blackmon, PLLC in the capacity of an Administrative Assistant.

Betty is the mother of two daughters and she adores her grandchildren, D. J. and DeAirah and spends as much time as she can in Georgia. She spends her leisure time reading and solving crossword puzzles
