Shanise Batiste LeFlore joined the law firm of Blackmon & Blackmon, PLLC as a Legal Assistant in November 1995, bringing seven years of legal experience from Los Angeles, California. Shanise serves as Special Assistant to the Senior Partner in the firm of Blackmon & Blackmon, PLLC, Edward Blackmon, Jr.
Shanise’s responsibilities include heavy public relations with clients; client interviews; ordering and obtaining all medical information; conducting legal research; drafting initial legal documents and pleadings; propounding and responding to discovery; coordinating cases for the Senior Partner; developing and organizing trial notebooks; attending trials to assist with the voir dire process, exhibit presentation and generally assists as needed in trial.
In addition, Shanise also manages the mail process and maintains the firm’s master calendar.
Prior to assuming the position as Legal Assistant, Shanise served as Office Manager of the firm in 2000-2001 where her responsibilities included: managing personnel in the office; planning, organizing, directing, staffing and coordinating the office clerical needs; ordering supplies; calculating payroll; and communication with various vendors and clients.
Shanise is a native of New York, having spent her formative years in Rochester. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, she attended South West Community College where she majored in Administration of Justice. Shanise took additional training and courses in Paralegal Studies and became a Certified Legal Assistant in 1993. Prior to that, she was a participant in the Reserve Program at the Los Angeles Police Academy.
Shanise’s community activities include serving on the Board of Directories of the New Life Family Centered Program in Walnut Grove, Mississippi; a member of the Bathsheba Grand Chapter, O.E.S., Little Rock, Chapter No. 518; President of the Adult Usher Board of her church, Truelight Missionary Baptist Church and a Life Member of the NAACP.
Shanise is married to Adam LeFlore and they are the proud parents of three children, Marnise, A.J. and Karli-Brooklyn.
